The $25,000.00 San Jose Pro Challenge @ Silicon Valley Triathlon Weekend:

The Pro Challenge is the only spectator friendly Triathlon in the country.

The Pro Challenge is a professional invite only event with a $25,000.00 prize purse distributed evenly between the male and female athletes, five deep.

The Pro Challenge is a unique format, spectator friendly modified Triathlon that is the highlight of a 20 year triathlon event weekend.






Format of Race:


Time Trial Bike, Rest until SVLC Age Group event is done, then Swim-Run-Swim-Run

Heat #1: Bike Time Trial Stage Event, 24 miles

24 miles loop course leaving before wave #1 of the coveted Silicon Valley Olympic Distance Triathlon. All competitors leave individually, at 3- minute intervals, and no drafting is allowed. Heat #1 completion upon entry into Almaden Lake Park and the 24 mile course.

 

Heat #2: Swim 750 yards

Staged event, after all 1,200 age group competitors have finished, Heat #2 for all competitors will start. Competitors will leave as they placed in the bike time trial. Competitors will swim in front and be pre staged on the beach, in front of thousands of spectators and competitors.

 

Heat #3: Run 2 miles

This run is a ½ mile loop closed off, and in front of all spectators and SVODT competitors. This is a flat and fast course that runs 4 loops in and around the main stage, finish line, and post race festivities of the SVODT age group athletes.

 

Heat #4: Swim 750 yards

Continuing to race in front of the crowds at world class speed, and vieing for cash dollars, Heat #4- is another 3/4 mile swim, with same start and finish line as Heat #2.

 

Final Stage / Heat #5: Run 3 miles

A modified turnaround and 3- mile sprint run, finishing in the middle of the post race festivities and massive finish line presence.

Chip Timing:

This race will be timed using AMD radar timing using chip transpoders. Upon checking in you will receive a chip that is traditionally worn on the ankle. It is the athlete's responsibility to wear the chip during the entire race, if you do not wear the chip you will NOT be timed and you will not get your splits!

The Athlete is also 100% totally responsible for the return of the chip, our waiver will have a disclaimer that must be signed that states you the athlete must return the chip or be billed accordingly by our timing company. It is the racers responsibility to make sure if you cannot attend the race that the chip will be returned within 7- business days to USA Productions LLC.


USA Productions USAT Sanctioning:

USAT provides comprehensive insurance coverage to sanctioned events. The coverage provides liability coverage to protect the race director, sponsors, volunteers, officials, and participants. The athlete excess medical coverage protects each participant for the day of the event.

Athlete Excess Medical: When athletes purchase a USAT annual license or one day permit, a portion of those fees cover the cost to provide them with excess medical insurance. This coverage only extends to their participation in an USA Triathlon sanctioned event and is only available after the injured party has filed with any primary insurance policies.

Event Liability: USAT provides comprehensive liability insurance coverage to sanctioned events. The USA Triathlon policy automatically covers USA Triathlon race directors, sponsors, volunteers, officials, and participants while participating in sanctioned events. Single-event permit can only be purchased through the race director and is $10 at packet pickup or the day of the event. USA Triathlon does not sell single-day permits.
