About the Folsom Olympic Distance Triathlon.

 

Great venue for a triathlon, with pristine mountain fresh water!

The Folsom Olympic Distance Triathlon will fill a void for the lack of Olympic Distance Triathlons in the State Capitol / Sacramento area. This event will attract racers from all over the State, but has become a staple in the Sacramento Area. Participants will range from the world's top elite triathletes to hundreds of age group and beginner triathletes each year. Athletes line up to attack one of the fastest International/Olympic Distance Triathlons in the USA. It is all about racing alongside the world's top professionals and celebrating at the finish line. Warm sun, great music, gourmet food, awards and laughter are only to be found at FODT. Triathletes from all over the state will agree that the Folsom Olympic Distance Triathlon embodies everything that is great about the sport of triathlon. Triathletes and their families can come and enjoy all that Folsom has to offer from lodging and dining to entertainment and shopping.

2010 Tri Club Challenge Championship

Tri Club Challenge at Folsom Olympic Distance Triathlon

USA Productions Tri Club Challenge Championship at Folsom Olympic Triathlon on August 15th will be the finale in the series to determine the fastest club team.  Several Northern California clubs have been battling for several seasons.  Last year's winning club, PacWest Athletics took home the prize and looks to defend its title. This will be the first tri club series that, starting in 2010 will accumulate points for the Challenge series of designated events in the USA Productions tri club schedule. This will culminate at the extremely popular Folsom Olympic event in Nimbus Flats, which will draw several hundred participants. The Folsom Olympic Course is flat and fast at the distances of 1.5k swim 40k bike and 10k run.

 

 


 

Race Details

Great awards for every age group division winner. The awards will be honored 3 deep in each age group. (An age group must have a least 3 participants to be considered for an award.)

Race Entry includes custom t-shirt, post race food, water bottles, free samples, a free swim cap, sponsor information and information on USA Productions other events.

Competitor Information


Age groups male & female:

14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+, female Athena (over 160 lbs), male Clydesdale (over 200 lbs.).

 


Relays:

All male, all female, and coed teams, with 2-3 members per team.


Special Note:

All CLYDESDALES, ATHENA & MOUNTAIN BIKES will go in the wave with the RELAY TEAMS. They will not go off with the AGE GROUPS.


Parking Directions:

You will be able to park at the race venue.


Swim Course:

The 1.5 K Swim will start in waves. The water temperature will be approx. 62-68 degrees. Wetsuits are encouraged. Note: The course will be lined with large neon buoys, numerous lifeguards and kayak teams. You will have a short distance to cover from the water exit back to the transition area. Note: You will not be disqualified for asking for assistance or help during the swim!


Bike Course:

40K Bike. There is one water station provided on the bike course. The bike course is rolling hills, moderate short hills.

Run Course:

Aid stations will be placed every mile along the run course for hydration with electrolyte sports drink, water, and energy gel..

After the race:

All racers will finish at one of the BEST PARTIES AROUND. All participants will enoy free catered food. Fixings include fresh fruit and bagels, granola ceral, pasta salad, and burritos. Race day announcer will keep all who attend informed of all the post race festivities. The Awards ceremony will begin at approx. 10:30 a.m.


Chip Timing:

This race will be timed using a chip timing system. Upon checking in you will receive a chip that is traditionally worn on the ankle. It is the athlete's responsibility to wear the chip during the entire race. If you do not wear the chip you will NOT be timed.

The Athlete is also 100% totally responsible for the return of the chip. Our waiver will have a disclaimer that must be signed that states you, the athlete, must return the chip or be billed accordingly by our timing company. It is the racer's responsibility to make sure that if you cannot attend the race, the chip will be returned within 7 days to USA Productions at the following address.  If the timing chip is not returned the participant will be charged $30.




USAT Sanctioning:

USAT provides comprehensive insurance coverage to sanctioned events. The coverage provides liability coverage to protect the race director, sponsors, volunteers, officials, and participants. The athlete excess medical coverage protects each participant for the day of the event.

Athlete Excess Medical: When athletes purchase a USAT annual license or one day permit, a portion of those fees cover the cost to provide them with excess medical insurance. This coverage only extends to their participation in an USA Triathlon sanctioned event and is only available after the injured party has filed with any primary insurance policies.

Event Liability: USAT provides comprehensive liability insurance coverage to sanctioned events. The USA Triathlon policy automatically covers USA Triathlon race directors, sponsors, volunteers, officials, and participants while participating in sanctioned events. Single-event permit can only be purchased through the race director and is $10 at packet pickup or the day of the event. USA Triathlon does not sell single-day permits.

Body Marking:

All athletes will be body marked. Hands, calves, arms and thighs will be marked. Body marking is done on race morning, you will find volunteers in the transitions area. It is the racers responsibility to get body marked. In addition to body marking you will be given a small race number to be placed on the front of your bike helmet, a race number to go on the front of your shirt during the run and a race number to be attached to your bike. These numbers are given to you at packet pick-up.


Transition Area:

The transition area is very well marked with signage for your team racks.  Individuals will be first-come, first-serve for all remaining rack space.  Do not forget to bring a towel for your space.


Bike Check:

 USA Productions highly recommends getting your bike checked and tuned prior to the race.


Preparing for Race:

Be sure to listen to the race day announcer for important announcements during your warm up.

Driving Directions to transition area at Lake Natoma Nimbus Flats:

From Sacramento:
Directions from Highway 80: Heading West from Auburn or East from Sacramento or San Francisco take the Sierra College exit (in the City of Rocklin) and turn South on Sierra College. In about 6 miles Sierra College becomes Hazel Ave., continue south through the town of Orangevale and finally across the American River. Your second left after the river is Nimbus Flats Park, California State Park. Next to the CSUS Aquatic Center.

Directions from Highway 50: Heading West from Lake Tahoe or East from Sacramento or San Francisco take the Hazel Ave. exit (in the town of Rancho Cordova) and head North after your first stoplight make the next right turn into Nimbus Flats Park, California State Park. Next to the CSUS Aquatic Center.

If you’re not a triathlete and would like to participant in some way to help with the event grab your friends and family and be a part of the event. Volunteers are needed to assist with several aspects of the event, including pre-registration, the start and finish line and water stations along the course.
